What moves the price?
- Duct length and layout. Long horizontal runs and tall risers take longer than a short run straight through a wall.
- Grease levels. A system that has gone well past its interval, or has never been cleaned, can take twice as long.
- Access. Too few access panels, or a fan on a roof that needs height access, adds time and sometimes panel fitting.
- Number of canopies. Each canopy and its run is effectively its own system.
- Cooking type. Charcoal, grills, woks and deep fryers leave heavier, harder deposits.
How to spot a quote that isn't a real TR19 clean
The cheapest number isn't the cheapest clean if your insurer won't accept the certificate. Check that the quote includes:
- The whole system: canopy, plenum, filters, ductwork, fan and discharge
- Grease readings before and after, at set points
- A photo report and a certificate that names the areas covered
- A VHR-registered contractor working to TR19® Grease
- Out-of-hours working, so you don't lose a service
How to get a firm price quickly
A photo of your canopy and filters, your postcode and when it was last cleaned are enough for a ballpark. Big or complex systems get a short survey first, then a fixed quote. No charge to ask.
